The minister of Industry, Energy and mining, Guillermo Moncecchi, met with entrepreneurs of the automotive firm Lifan, who expressed their intention to produce electric cars at the plant installed in Uruguay. In addition, it signed an understanding agreement with Huawei for the development of 5G technology in the country.
The leader highlighted the meeting with Lifan. His managers told him of the intention to manufacture electric cars in Uruguay. The negotiations are progressing and could be completed next year, he said.
Another of the meetings that the Uruguayan delegation held in the Asian country was with the company Huawei, with which it signed an agreement of understanding for the exchange of vocational training and the transmission of experiences, due to its knowledge in the field of technology 5G. in this sense, Moncecchi recalled that Uruguay was one of the main countries of the world in deploying this technology and now it remains to extend it to the entire network.
The official mentioned the strategic partnership between the two governments, as well as the commercial exchange, which places that Asian country as Uruguay’s main partner. In this regard, he stressed the importance of the diplomatic relationship that has been going on for 31 years.
